Hearts for Friends

I finally can post these pictures, because I finally sent my friend her birthday present & she just received it today! I actually made this dress weeks ago, as my very first try doing a heart cutout, but I was very bad at finishing the handsewing bits, & since my darling friend reads the blog, I couldn't post the photos I took of it until after she got it. She sent me an email letting me know a few minutes ago that she got it, so here it is!

I think it looks classier without puffy sleeves. Mine is the floofy, girly version, while this is perfect for a cocktail party. The fabric came from the upholstery section of the fabric store, a spot I should really shop more often... I adore the print! The weight is also really nice, & the cotton has a bit of a sheen, which I adore.

She's just the darlingest, & I can't wait to see photos of it on her! She lives up in Alaska while I'm stuck down here in the midwest, & we haven't actually seen each other in three years. But we stay in touch regularly & can still gossip & gab as though we hang out regularly. Friendships like that are the best, don't you think? <3<3<3

  1. You made this Addie?!! Oh my lanta!
Heart cut outs are just the best. Great job : )

  2. Beautiful, Addie! I love this dress so much and the shoes look really classy with it.

  3. Awww, what a sweet friend you are! Once again, thank you so much!!! I love it!!! And whenever I get compliments on the dress I'll make sure to praise your sewing skills to the heavens. =) I love seeing how your skill has improved over the years! I still remember how impressed I was when you told me about your pink Phantom of the Opera dress the first time we met... and you've come so far since then!! Keep up the good work!

  4. I adore it!

  5. Very nice! I have some friendships like that...they're priceless.

  7. I started cutting out a romper last night, and I think I'm going to make a heart cutout in the back. It's bright pink fabric, so I think it will be super cute. ^_^

  8. Aw, thank you, ladies!

Dana - I still haven't replied to your email, sorry! But I'm so glad you like it & that it fits & everything. :) You are such a dear! Haha, oh, the Phantom of the Opera dress... that was quite a phase! Thanks, darling. <3

Tany - Go for it! It's not copying me, heart cutouts weren't my original idea. I can't wait to see the amazing dress you'll come up with! (&, thank you!)

Amber - Oh oh oh! That will be incredibly adorable. I'm so excited to see how it turns out!

  9. This is a wonderful dress! Love the fabric and your blog!
