Vintage Inspired Audrey-esque Mod Dress

Longest title ever!

Anyway, I am in love with my new dress! I made it from a sheet & a recycled zipper & some vintage wool... strapping? I don't exactly know what it is, but it suited my needs! I was very inspired by 50's style dresses and the kinds of dresses Audrey Hepburn would wear. (If you didn't know, I adore Audrey & all her movies.) It has a very high front and a boatneck, and then a v-cut in back. Because I was in a rush, I just finished the shoulder seams with a bit of the black strapping.

The skirt is very, very gathered and quite full. It's definitely a little shorter than most skirts and dresses I wear, but I always wear tights this time of year, so it's not as big of a deal. I mean, if you layer two tights, they're practically leggings, and leggings are on par with those ridiculously tight skinny jeans people wear, right? And people sure don't wear those with skirts! (I'm trying hard for justification here, work with me.)

I feel instantly put together when I wear this dress. Classy, sophisticated, and cute all rolled into one! I am not certain I look that way... but feeling that way is what really counts, right?

  3. Oh Addie, Addie!
I envy your fashion sense so much! That dress is darling! I adore the v-neck in the back! SO classy. Your hair is the perfect length for that dress as well. That is one thing I really love about your style. You know how to dress yourself, and also you know (HOW do you DO it?!?) what kinds of things look good on others too! Audrey would be proud!
You DO look classy, sophisticated and cute! :)
    Love you!
